Event

• We were pleased to welcome David Pettit to his first reunion.
• Sadly, we also toasted "Absent friends" remembering our regular attenders who have recently "Crossed the Bar"
• Norman Fullam gave a fascinating slide show to accompany his short talk recounting his challenging trip from New York to Greece in a 30 foot yacht renamed "Somers Isle"!  He sailed to the Bahamas, Bermuda, Azores, encountering some heavy weather, across to Portugal and through the Med eventually arriving in Greece.   Most of the trip he was accompanied either by one crew member or his son but also made solo passages.
  
• Frank Priest talked us through his slides of his time on various ships.
• Although Ken and Elaine Farr were unable to attend he had kindly provided slides of his time on the Reina del Mar.
  Summing up . . . . " . . a great weekend; looking forward to next year!"     " . . . enjoyed some animated and humourous conversations"     " . . renewed old friendships and made new ones!"     " . . . some nostalgia and a lot of laughter reminiscing about old times"    ". . . a lot of good humoured banter and laughter"

  Already it seems next year's reunion on 11th and 12th March 2016 will be well attended! Put it in your Dairy now.

   

  As usual, the Restaurant was very busy over the 2015 weekend.   Fortunately, our attendees followed advice and booked their tables for an early meal thereby avoiding late entry to the Meeting Room.

    As always seems to be the case l am double booked and will be in Suffolk this weekend.  Maybe - hopefully myself, Brenden Bailey and Russ Judge will be able to make the reunion in 2016 and have pencilled it in.

  Former PSNC Officers and family who have "Crossed the Bar" since our 2014 Reunion

  • Thackeray, Gilbert "Gil"

    "Hi Barry, I am the son-in-law of Gilbert Thackeray. It is with great regret I have the sad duty to inform you that on Saturday morning 26 July 2014, after a long battle with cancer, Gilbert passed away, in no pain!"   John Bracegirdle    (Son-in-Law)

    Gil's funeral took place on Friday 1st August at 1330 hours, at St Peter's Church, Ireleth   followed by a service at Barrow-in-Furness Crematorium
    
    

  • Jestico, Captain Antony Michael

    His son Chris informed me his dad had died on 18th March 2014 aged 85 years.   When he was appointed Captain of "Eleuthera" at age 31 he was the youngest Master in PSNC history.
