PSNC Officers Reunion 2024

The 24th Annual Reunion will take place on
Wednesday 27th & Thursday 28th March 2024 in the usual venue, the Packet Steamer.

(However, this would have been the 25th Reunion if we counted the "Inaugural Meeting" when four of us went on a trip up the Manchester Ship Canal in August 1997.)

(Page updated 6th April 2024)

Bernie advised me that on the basis of the 20 or so attendees in March 2023 we have booked the evenings of Wed 27th and Thurs 28th March 2024 with the main event on the Thursday evening.
This will avoid all major sporting events, Mothers' Day, St Patrick's Day, Clock Time Changes, etc., etc.
Only two of the attendees are actually still working, but with a year's advance notice they will book time off.
{We are all grateful for the two of them who DO still work and pay taxes to keep us in the standard of life we enjoy!}

The Restaurant layout has changed a bit and the back room we used for our evening get-togethers has now been turned into a function room/dining room.
It has been booked for both evenings on the proviso that we dine together at a set time, 6pm, so that we could have the room to ourselves.

NB If you have changed your email address in the last year or so, and have forgotten to let me or Bernie know,
then do please send an email with "Address update" in the subject line.   Thanks.

The regular venue - the Beefeater Packet Steamer, Northern Perimeter Road, Netherton, Liverpool L30 7PT   (TEL 0151 531 1497)  - will be the venue for the Twenty Fourth Annual Reunion.

All former uniformed sea-going Officers of the Pacific Steam Navigation Company (and latterly Royal Mail & Furness Withy) are welcome to attend.   Both evenings are informal.

It has been customary to have a "slide show" (now known as a Powerpoint Presentation) of nostalgic photos of personnel and ships etc from the old days on the Saturday evening.

McRae, Ian - Sadly, I learned from a friend that Ian had passed away on Sunday 7th January 2024 after suffering from cancer for some years.
He had previously indicated that although he was unable to travel he was happy to hear from old colleagues through myself or Bernie.

Ratcliffe, Peter John - the following information was sent by Barry White.
"On 8th Feb 2024 I was at Peter John Ratcliffe (Pete's) Service at the Springwood Crenatorium in LIverpool.   He had passed away on 10th January 2024.   The cause of death is still to be determined - hence the delay in notifying you.   Pete was an Engineeer Cadet with PSNC and was at Riversdale College, Liverpool in the late 60's.  He went on to serve with a number of companies later as Chief Engineer.   I had known him for over 40 years"
(Pete used to come to the PSNC Reunions and would have known a number of the attendees.)

    Please make a note in your Diaries now . . . .

The 26th Annual Reunion will take place on
Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th March 2025 in the usual venue, the Packet Steamer.
